What is Internal Audit?
The official definition of internal auditing, from what is Internal Audit the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), states: "Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control an governance process."
In YISD, the internal audit department provides the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent with an objective evaluation of operations, policies, procedures, and controls of District administration. Support from the Board of Trustees and the administration is essential for the audit staff to carry out this responsibility. Please see details in Board Policy CFC(Local).
