In a Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), students earn a high school diploma, industry-recognized certifications, college credits toward an Associate degree and gain relevant work experience in a growing field. P-TECH is a partnership among K-12, community college and industry, each making long-term commitments and contributing their best expertise to provide students with rigorous and hands-on academic, technical and workplace experiences.
The uniqueness of a P-TECH high school is based on high expectations of students and the belief that all students can earn a college degree. Students begin to experience college on a career pathway from the moment they begin their P-TECH high school experience. The model integrates high school and college coursework, enabling students to begin college courses as soon as they are ready. Students are also provided workplace opportunities that include mentoring, job shadowing, site visits and paid or unpaid internships — all designed to support students’ academic and professional growth.
The Ysleta ISD P-TECH currently offers dual credit in the area of Drafting through the high school Architecture program.
